Switched! – Epilogue

December 31, 2010 at 12:19 am (Switched!)

Kwon woke up from the bright sunlight passing through the window, hitting his eyes.  His hand instinctively went to reach for his wife.  But he was disappointed to find it empty.  Slowly sitting up, he looked around the room.  Finally after seeing that she was not inside, he got up and went out the room.  Not caring if he was only wearing boxers.

The delicious aroma welcomed him as he went out.  He went straight to the kitchen and there she was, though very much heavy with their child, preparing the table.  He walked quietly towards her and hugged her from the back.

“You smell nicer than the food.” He said as he snuggled to her neck.

“Enough with your jokes come let’s eat.  I prepared your favorites.” She said giggling and freed herself from his hug.

Braces – Chapter 6

December 30, 2010 at 7:57 pm (Braces)

“Good morning auntie!”  GaIn greeted Kwon’s mom who was in the garden taking care of her orchids.

“Oh, GaIn-ah.  Good morning.” Kwon’s mom said as she opened the gate for GaIn.

“Mom, baked cakes and she said I should give this one to you.  Don’t worry, it’s sugar free so it’s safe for you to eat.”  GaIn presented the cake with a smile.  It became a routine for her to go to Kwon’s house and they will go to school together.

“Oh is that so? Why thank you.  Come inside and I’ll serve this cake.  And GaIn-ah, can you be a darling and kindly wake my Kwonnie up?”

“Yes auntie” she said then went to his room.  Since they moved to Korea, they became friends with Kwon’s mom.  Her mother and Kwon’s mom both got off easily since they are both widows.  Aside from that both experience living in America for their husbands’ work.

Is It Still You? – Chapter 13

December 30, 2010 at 2:32 pm (Is it still you?)

Careful not to slip on the snow, GaIn walked out of her house.  As she turned around, she saw Kwon looking so dashing in his trench coat.  Like some chaebol, he has the aura of finesse and authority.  He was leaning on his car.  She could bet the last coin in her pocket she can’t afford the car even if she worked her butt for years.

Kwon seemed unaware of her presence.  He had his legs crossed, his hands on his pockets and looking at the right.  The white snow in contrast with his black coat and black sports car, he looked like a model in some magazine.

“Nice car.” She said to get his attention.

Kwon quickly looked at her and smiled.  His smile seemed to bring him down from his high pedestal for the gods and be reachable for his common people.

“Yah! Again, you didn’t tell me to wear properly.  Look at me.  I look like a pauper again beside you.  You should have included the dress code when you told me we’ll go out today.” She pouted.

Kwon chuckled. “It’s alright.  I told you I will turn you a princess today, right?  Let’s go.”  Kwon went to the passenger side to open the door for her.  They drove to the main shopping district.  Looking around, all she could see were expensive brands.  She looked at him questioningly.

Kwon chuckled, “Don’t give me that look.  Come on.  They’re waiting for us.” He said as he led GaIn inside.

“Welcome, Young Master Jo.  This way please.”  The girl who welcomed them said.  GaIn looked at Kwon who seemed to transform again, acting like those chaebols.  He curtly nodded at the attendant.

Braces – Chapter 5

December 30, 2010 at 12:41 am (Braces)

Kwon turned around and saw GaIn waving at her, leaning on his bike.  He ran towards her while smiling, started the engine and waited for GaIn to properly sit behind him.

She hugged him tightly.  Aside from the fact that Kwon had nice shoulder and back muscles he got from from swimming, the side of her face was plastered on his back because she was really afraid of how fast he drives.  But hell would freeze over first before she admits it to him.

After saving her from drowning, they become closer.  Every lunch, they will meet at their place, the bridge, and eat together.  No one dared to bully her again as every one knew she had Kwon on her back.  This closeness brought her to like him.  And she fell for him, just like his other fan girls.

Like what they used to do, they stopped by the sea first before going home.  As they have discovered later, they were neighbors.  Both of them sat in front of his bike.  They were facing the sea, waiting for the sunset.

The sky looked romantic and GaIn thought that this is the perfect moment to confess to him.  Her fingers fidgeting, not looking at him, she spoke “Oppa…”

“Hn…” Kwon answered.  Like her, he was staring at the sea.

“Did you… did you really like Min?”

“Haha… why ask all of a sudden?”  He glanced at her.

“N-nothing, I’m just curious.”

Is It Still You? – Chapter 12

December 27, 2010 at 5:46 pm (Is it still you?)

The snow covered streets are quiet.  The shop was quiet as people opted to stay at the comfort of their homes.  She stared blankly on her phone.  It’s been five days since they came from Ok Yub’s grave.  It was also five days that she did not hear anything from Kwon.

Still spacing out, she did not mind the customer that came to the shop. She stayed there sitting at the corner.  GaIn was surprised when her staff put a Caffe Latte on her table.

“I did not order a cup of—“

“That coffee’s free, ma’am.” Her staff answered right away smiling at her.  Then the staff motioned her hand to show who paid for the coffee and left smiling at her boss’s cute idea.

Braces – Chapter 4

December 23, 2010 at 9:55 am (Braces)

Kwon parked his favorite bike beside his luxury cars.  He gently caressed it “Thanks for the speed, pal.”

He had been riding around the town with his bike that day.  He does that whenever he needs some peace.  That bike has been with him for years.  It was the first bike he had.  It may not be the one he use during his racing competitions but that bike had been the witness to his ups and downs.  He never let anyone else ride that bike aside from GaIn.  That fact was a secret between him and his bike.

Going out of the garage, he saw GaIn’s car.  He smirked.  Knowing GaIn, he bet she did not know that he just pulled out one cable from the battery.  Why he did that? Even he doesn’t know.

Certain that she was already asleep, he went straight to the mini-bar.  However, he saw her there beside the pool.  Trying to dismiss the warmth he felt knowing that his wife waited for his return, he shouted at her from his position.

“Why are you still awake?”

Braces – Chapter 3

December 22, 2010 at 2:49 pm (Braces)

The morning sun shining brightly woke GaIn up.  She quickly stood up and looked for her phone.  Surprised to see the time, she hurriedly went down.  She tried to look for Kwon but she can’t find him.  Decided to wait for him, she made her own breakfast.

Hours passed and he was still not at home.  GaIn thought it would be useless to wait for him any longer and she has to go back.  She went back to the room and changed to her clothes, collected her things and went to her car.  She tried to start the engine but it did not respond.  She tried again.  Nothing happened.

Her car couldn’t be broken.  It was brand new and before she left, she had it checked.  Kicking the wheel in frustration, she decided to walk by foot.  However, she remembered that it would be a long walk since the road to his house was a private road.  Annoyed, she went inside the house.

Now there she is, sitting by the pool, waiting for his return.  She hugged her knees.  Her left cheek rested on her arms, looking at the pool’s direction.  She stared at the water.  It was so calm.  So calm, it brought her back those happy memories, the time she first met Kwon.

“Oh gosh, I’ll be very late!” GaIn said as she tried to quicken her pace.  She really can’t understand how those Koreans walk fast even in high slopes.

The walk to her new school is very hard as she had to climb up the hill-like road.  She was surprised when her mother told her she wouldn’t be sent to her school by car.  It was her mother’s idea that she now start to live the normal Korean life as they are now in Korea.

Unfortunately, her bag of books gave in and her books came rolling down the road.  Quickly, she ran after it.

“Watch out!”

She looked towards the person who spoke and she saw a motorbike approach her fast.   She closed her eyes and readied herself to be hit but it miraculously never came.

“Are you alright?”  The guy said after removing his helmet.

Is It Still You? – Chapter 11

December 21, 2010 at 6:27 pm (Is it still you?)

“Who are we going to visit?”

GaIn recognized where they were.  She need not ask why they were there.  Instead, she was curious whom they will visit as she knew both his parents are still alive.  It couldn’t be hers since her parents were buried on the other side of the country.

Kwon kept silent during their hike.  Soon they reached a grave.  He placed the flowers he brought and knelt down.  GaIn who was still confused, just followed out of respect to whoever was buried there.

‘Hyung, give me strength.’ Kwon prayed as his tears were threatening to fall.

Still kneeling, GaIn read aloud the name on the small stone.  “Ok Yub: A brother, a friend.”

“You’ve met him before.” Kwon started.  He clenched his fist to prevent it from shaking.

“Huh?” GaIn looked at Kwon then back at the grave again, confused.

He sighed.  All things were really easier said than done.  “H-he, hyung was my twin… and he was your real boyfriend.”  He said it fast.  He fears that if he stops, he’ll lose the courage he mustered for a long time.

Braces – Chapter 2

December 20, 2010 at 9:23 pm (Braces)

“Divorce, you say?  Is that what you really wanted? It seems my memory tells me otherwise.”

GaIn avoided Kwon’s eyes.  She knew what he meant.  There’s nothing she could argue with that.  She tried to keep her cool, “That’s why I’m setting both of us free.”

Kwon, again, raised an eyebrow, “Interesting.  I can still remember how you declare your feelings for me.”

“I like you. Ani, I LOVE you oppa! I love you with all my heart!”

“Will you stop that?! Everyone is looking at us.”

“Don’t mind them.  They’re just jealous they can’t get this close to you.”

Both of them traveled back in that special memory.  GaIn was the first to break from the trance.  Now loosing her composure she answered exasperatedly “Why are you making such a big deal out of this?  I’m giving you what you wanted years ago!”

“Why are YOU making a big deal out of this? We’re doing perfectly fine on our own.  My marriage with you doesn’t bother my everyday activities.” Kwon calmly questioned back.  He took another sip of his drink.

“Look.  I’m doing you a favor.  With the divorce you could marr—“

“Did I ask you a favor? I don’t remember.  I’m Jo Kwon.  I don’t ask.” Kwon put down his drink and wore his sunglasses.  He fixed his position lying under the sun and closed his eyes, silently dismissing GaIn.

“This is leading us nowhere.  Do you have a room here where I can rest? We’ll talk again after the heat of the sun put some sense in your brain.” GaIn stood carrying her bag with her.

Is It Still You? – Chapter 10

December 19, 2010 at 1:56 pm (Is it still you?)

There was a soft knock and his door opened.  Kwon sighed.  He knew he can’t avoid this conversation.  SeungAh entered the room and sat on the side of the bed.  She looked at Kwon who was sitting on his swivel chair, staring at the window.  The darkness of the night seemed to mirror Kwon’s troubled thoughts.

“Is she that person?” SeungAh bravely asked.  She had to know.  She wanted to be sure.  She needed to understand why.

Kwon kept silent.  He doesn’t want to admit it.  He does not want to accept the fact that the love he receives was really not for him.

She took Kwon’s silence as a yes.  Trying to control her trembling hands, she asked “Then why is she your girlfriend?  I really don’t understand.”

“I made a promise to hyung.  He asked me a favor to pretend as him or be the one to tell her his death at least.”

“But that’s ridiculous! How can he ask such a big favor from you just for her?” The tears she tried to control break free.

“He gave me an option.  I could tell her right away about what happened to hyung…”

“But you chose to pretend as him.” SeungAh continued for him, “But why, oppa?”
